November 5th - Do any of these sound familiar? Where did the real men go? What does he know, he’s just a man? Or maybe, Who needs a man? And my personal favorite, Have all the men been neutered? Have you ever considered that Women could be largely responsible for the near extinction of the real men in the world?

This week my guest, Laura Dobson, and I will be talking about the incredible power we have as women to impact men and encourage their masculinity. For way too long we’ve been complaining about the men in this world, but are we ready to do something about it? Both women and men are equally wonderful in God’s eyes and they should be in ours as well but, society, the media and the effects of the past 40+ years of feminism has affected our ability to see this equality.

DOWNLOAD THE CHECK LIST - 5 Ways to Empower Your Man.

We’re also going to talk about that dirty little word called “submission” and how that translates into our lives today. So, if you’re a man-hater, a reformed man-hater or if you find yourself saying, “Would the real men stand up?” then gather around your computer this week with your phone in hand. What hope does she have for her future? How could she possibly move past her mistakes and find freedom from the guilt and shame of her crime? Deanna Allen, the National Director of Daughters of Destiny, will be sharing her story with us this week and the powerful impact the Daughters of Destiny woman’s prison outreach has had on the lives of women in prison across the U.S.

October 8th - Kathryn Keats Continued Plus, How You Can Help! Last week we learned about Kathryn Keat's terrifying past, what she endured at the hands of her abuser and what her life has turned out to be 20 years later. We'll continue to unfold Kathryn's story for you this week on the Her Freedom show, and we'll also talk about how you can help end the cycle of domestic violence.

The sad fact is, many women who's lives have been affected by domestic violence do not have a "happy ending" such as Kathryn's. Many women loose their lives at the hands of their abuser or repeat the cycle getting into another relationship with an abusive person.

Instead of asking yourself why does this happen, let's find out what we can do to help stop this prevalent crime. Jennifer Walker, from the Women's Crisis Center in Castle Rock Colorado, will also be joining us this week to discuss these staggering facts and much more.

  • Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States; more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.
  • Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime.
  • Thirty seven percent of Americans say they know a woman who has been physically abused by her husband or boyfriend in the past year.

Tune in this week to learn what you can do to get involved. Education is the first step towards stopping domestic violence. Listen to the Her Freedom show on www.castlerockradio.com Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. (MST). If you missed any of last weeks show be sure to check out the archives page at www.herfreedom.org.

October 1st - The Kathryn Keats Story. After 20 years of hiding she’s lifting the covers off her terrifying past and sharing her story. Singer and songwriter, Kathryn Keats is telling the story of her past and how her life changed forever when she entered the victims witness protection program to save her life and escape from the violent rape and beatings from her boyfriend. Taking a new name, a new identity and leaving the life she knew behind Kathryn embarked on a journey that has brought her to the Her Freedom show to tell her story.

When Kathryn learned that her abuser had died, the freedom she felt was unexplainable. The first thing she did was to sit down at her piano and pour her soul into her music. The part of her that had been dead for so long was once again able to come back to life. She was able to finally complete her journey and realize true freedom in her new life.

You don’t want to miss this show! Kathryn will be joining us for two weeks on the Her Freedom show. The first week to tell her story and the second week to collaborate with the Women’s Crisis Center in Castle Rock Colorado as we join together to help break the silence around Domestic Violence. Because the sad fact is, Kathryn could have been your neighbor, your sister or your friend. So many women are affected by domestic violence, join us this week to learn what you can do to stop the cycle of violence.

September 17th - Have you ever come so close to realizing a dream, so close you could almost taste it? You slept, ate and lived every aspect of your life in pursuit of your dream only to fall just short of seeing it come to reality? We all have disappointments in life, but some of them are more profound than others. This week we’ll be talking with Dana Pounds, who came within just a few inches of realizing her dream to be an Olympic athlete only to have her javelin fall just short of the qualifying mark.

We’ve all chased dreams before and some of us are lucky enough to have the privilege of living our dreams. We all have disappointments in life but, it’s how we respond to that disappointment that makes us who we are today. We all have a choice. We can wallow in our self pity, and say “Why did this happen to me! It’s not fair” or we can choose to learn from our experience and pick ourselves back up and start dreaming again.

Life is full of ups and downs. And as Dana Pounds knows it’s an exhilarating feeling to be so close to realizing your dream. She also knows the freedom of being able to release that dashed dream and move on with your life, continuing to pursue your God given purpose. If you are pursuing a dream today or have seen your dream dashed upon the rocks of life, tune in to the Her Freedom show for a does of encouragement this week with Dana Pounds! As always, you can call in on the live show at 888-321-7234 or email us anytime at share@herfreedom.org.

September 3rd - It’s a battle that so many women face. We want to be strong and independent but often that means sacrificing our femininity to embrace this empowered image. This was the dilemma faced by professional athlete Nicole DeBoom. Every race or event left her feeling so out of touch with her femininity and trapped in clothing that she felt so masculine wearing. So, Nicole did something about it! She created SkirtSports! A line of feminine active wear that looks great from the gym to the mall and back again!

I think this principal applies to so many areas of our lives as women. We struggle with the balance of embracing our femininity yet not wanting to be overlooked as the weaker sex. We were created different from men, though not inferior. Clothing lines like SkirtSports help us to embrace our feminine nature, yet enable us to continue pushing ourselves to be stronger and more physically fit without compromising.

Tune in this week to be inspired as we talk with Nicole DeBoom, professional athlete and founder of SkirtSports. We’ll learn what inspired Nicole to reach the heights of her career, and how she feels now as a woman competing in her new feminine attire. And you won’t want to miss the details of her new “Skirt Chasing” event in a city near you!

August 27th - Eat this, not that, wear this, not that, smile pretty, PERFECT! Do you feel a pressure towards perfection in life? Society tells us you can have it all. Cosmetic surgery can fix any imperfection and you’ll never reach true happiness or perfection until you have that Perfect Body! When will we stop listening to these lies?

We were all created as unique individuals all in different sizes, shapes and colors. It’s time we begin embracing who we are and start loving ourselves. This week on the Her Freedom show we’ll be discussing the topic of eating disorders and how destructive eating patterns can leave us feeling trapped. Eating disorders have ruined so many women’s lives, even to the point of death.

We’ll be talking with our guest from Wings of Grace counseling center, Charity Richardson. Charity is a licensed physiotherapist who blends technique with compassion and sensitivity for a winning combination to help clients reach their true potential in life.

Great Resources to learn more about eating disorders:

August 20th - Tap, tap, tap! Have you ever thought your pain or stress could be reduced or eliminated simply by tapping your fingers? No, this isn’t some sort of crazy spell or hypnosis it’s real and it works! I’ve tried it!

EFT which stands for Emotional Freedom Technique is often used to address blocks or interference in the natural processing of emotions or physical pains and symptoms in the body. Similar to acupuncture, it uses the body’s subtle energy system to interrupt the long-standing patterns of neurotransmissions that we’ve established – the communication between the brain and the body for emotional responses or pain messages. Then through tapping, the system re-establishes these neuro-pathways for transmission, the connection is clearer and more balanced.

Sounds fascinating right? I did a test for all of you to make sure this really worked and I could hardly believe the results. We’re going to demonstrate a live EFT session on this weeks show and provide you with some of the tools to get started. Plus we’ll let you know how you can connect up with our guests Kerri and Cathy for your own EFT session.

Be sure you download this instructional PDF before the show so you can follow along. Then get ready to call in with your questions after the session is over. 888-321-RADIO or email share@herfreedom.org

The Her Freedom show is sponsored in part by your generous donations.

August 13th - Do you have a brick wall around you? Have you ever made a secret vow that no one would ever get close enough to hurt you again? I think if we're honest, we've all made those vows at one time in our lives. And that's the first layer of brick that we lay down. Today we're going to talk about how those walls we built to protect, ultimately hurt us. And how we can start breaking them down to find freedom!

This week our guest Esther Fleece will share her powerful life story and how she broke down the walls in her life to find freedom, joy and peace. Esther is a powerful international speaker with an amazing story of transformation and hope. You won't want to miss this weeks show!

July 30th - Do you need a shoulder to cry on or want to someone to tell your darkest secrets to or maybe you’re looking for an honest answer to that age old question, “Do these shoes look ok with this outfit?” that’s what girlfriends are there for!

Through the years our friends play a huge role in our lives, they are someone you can trust to be honest with you even when it hurts; someone to tell you it’s going to be ok when a relationship goes bad, laugh with you, cry with you, be your “partner in crime” for those crazy moments in life and that steadfast dependable person you can call when even your hair hurts.

These types of relationships don’t come around often; but when you do find another woman who understands you at this level, you need to treasure and nurture that relationship because it will be invaluable to you as you walk through life.

This week on the Her Freedom show we’ll be talking about the subject of girlfriends with our three special guests and Janna’s friends, Susan, Pam and Charyl. Listen in as we talk about the special girlfriends in our lives and give us a call to share your story! We want to hear about how a girlfriend in your life changed the way you look at life. Or, maybe you haven’t had the joy of a good girlfriend – call in to learn how you can start cultivating relationships with the women around you. The saying applies – it takes being a friend to have a friend. Call in this week between 9:00 and 10:00 am (mst) 888-321-RADIO! Listen at www.castlerockradio.com

July 23rd - Setting Boundaries Part Two. We continue last week's discussion with Susan Donahue about what boundaries are and the huge role they play in our lives and relationships. Regardless of the relationship, co-workers, boss, boyfriend, husbands or family, boundaries are the essential for both parties to be happy and healthy in a relationship.

Boundaries or the "personal property" lines of our lives are tools to maintain control over what happens in our lives or on our "property". Susan has provided us a  3-step list for setting boundaries. Be sure to download this and assess the health of your boundaries today!

Take advantage of Susan's expertise this week as she coaches us through some of the first steps to setting boundaries or helping others in our lives set boundaries. If you would like to get in touch with Susan Donahue to set an appointment you can reach her by emailing: susan.donahue@usa.net or calling 719-266-0662.

July 16th - “I can’t believe she just did that; just who does she think she is?" Does that thought sound familiar? We’ve all had people in our lives from time to time that have done things to us or said things to us that we would never dare. This week we’re going to learn how we can establish boundaries or “ground rules” in our relationships which will help us enjoy our lives more!

It has been said that setting boundaries is the key to loving yourself and having healthier relationships in all areas of life. Do you have questions about how to establish these boundaries and what do when people cross them? This week on the Her Freedom show we’ll discuss this topic with licensed counselor, Susan Donahue, and learn what’s healthy and what’s not when it comes to boundaries.

Setting boundaries is a skill that must be learned and for some of us it’s easier than others! Listen as your hosts, Janna and Vanessa, share their relationship experiences and humorous stories related to boundaries in their lives. Do you have a question about boundaries that you would like to discuss on the show? Give us a call Wednesday morning between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. (mst) to be on the show. We’d love to hear from you!
